Van Riemsdyk out indefinitely with concussion

The Flyers announced Saturday that forward James van Riemsdyk is out indefinitely with a concussion. Here is the statement from Flyers GM Paul Holmgren:

“James was hit in the head in each of our last two games. He reported yesterday, not feeling like himself. He will be out indefinitely with a concussion.”

Van Riemsdyk, who was arguably the Flyers best player in the 2011 postseason, has struggled so far this season. He has complied just 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists), and has posted a plus/minus of -1.

Rumors had been swirling in the last few days that the young forward could be part of a trade to bring in another defenseman to help fill the void left by captain Chris Pronger, who will miss the rest of the season with concussion-like sumptoms.
