Bogut sent home with concussion

Andrew Bogut missed Milwaukee’s 102-76 NBA mauling at the hands of champions Dallas, sent home before the match with concussion.

The Australian centre took a heavy knock to the back of the head on Thursday night he slammed into the court while taking a charge during a victory over Detriot.

Bucks coach Scott Skiles said Bogut failed a pre-game test to check for concussion symptoms on Friday and was ruled out in accordance with the league’s concussion policy.

‘There a new rule on concussion protocol, he couldn’t pass the test, so he’s out,’ Skiles said, without elaborating.

Drew Gooden replaced Bogut in the starting lineup.

Bogut returned to the US on Tuesday after missing four games to fly home to Australia to deal with a personal matter.

The Bucks lost all four games he was out, and had won both games since he returned.

The Bucks put up very little resistance on Friday night as the Mavericks cruised to victory.

On a night when Dirk Nowitzki became the 23rd player in NBA history to score 23,000 points, the Mavericks stretched their record to 7-5.

‘Actually I’m pleased tonight because we found out before the game that Bogut had been sent home because of concussion symptoms,’ Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said.

Meanwhile, Chicago’s Derrick Rose made a successful return from injury when he scored 25 points to help the Bulls to a 88-79 win over Boston.

In San Antonio, Tony Parker scored 20 points to give the Spurs a 99-83 win over Portland.

Indiana scored a 95-90 away win over Toronto with Tyler Hansbrough making two key free throws with less than 15 seconds to play as the Pacers overcame the ejection of leading scorer Danny Granger.

While Philadelphia had a good night at home when they pounded Washington 120-89 with Jodie Meeks scoring a career high 26 points.

In New Orleans, Kevin Love scored 34 points to steer Minnesota to a 87-80 win over their hosts, the Hornets.

Denver’s Ty Lawson returned from a sprained right foot to score 24 points to lead the Nuggets to a 117-104 win over Miami on Friday, handing the Heat their third straight NBA loss.

While in Charlotte Jonas Jerebko tied a career high with 22 points as Detroit won the race to three victories against Charlotte with the Pistons taking the match 98-81.
