HOUSTON — Titans fullback Ahmard Hall suffered a concussion late in the win over the Texans on Sunday.

Former Glencliff High School linebacker Tim Dobbins smacked Hall, causing him to fumble. The Texans recovered with 1:49 remaining and went on to score a touchdown with 14 seconds left, setting up a failed two-point conversion.

Hall was taken from the locker room to the team bus on a golf cart. He did not speak to reporters.

“He took a huge hit there and had to come out, and that gave them a chance to win the football game,” Coach Mike Munchak said. “Ahmard carried the ball earlier and we have great confidence with him carrying the football. That was a great hit on him.”

Johnson’s season: Running back Chris Johnson reached 1,000 yards for the fourth straight season and saved himself $300,000 in the process.

Johnson’s contract extension prior to the season contained a clause that stated he had to rush for at least 1,000 yards to avoid losing $300,000 toward his $8 million base salary for 2012.

He rushed for 61 yards on 15 carries against the Texans. He finished the season with 1,047 yards.

“It’s always hard to go against that defense and the kinds of plays they call and the blitzes,” Johnson said. “You and the offense have to be on the same page.”

Penn State chatter: Last week, Munchak strongly denied any interest in becoming head coach at his alma mater, Penn State.

On Saturday, however, ESPN reported that Munchak was torn about reconsidering his stance.

“I didn’t hear about that,” Munchak said on Sunday. “But people just won’t let it go. Until they name their next coach I am sure we’ll be hearing all kinds of things.”

On Sunday, reports said Penn State wants Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien.

“I hope they get the guy they want,” Munchak said. “But nothing has changed with me. I’m happy with the job I have.”

Finishing strong: Rookie defensive tackle Jurrell Casey was credited with 1 1/2 sacks and another two tackles for losses as he continued to assert himself late in the season.

“I have a better feel for the game now,” he said. “I know what to expect and where I’m supposed to be.”

Casey’s development pushed him ahead of veteran Shaun Smith in the rotation.

“He’s been a rookie who’s really committed,” Munchak said. “… The natural leverage he has with a lack of height helps him, and he’s hard to move. He’s been big for us.”

Injuries:Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck had a bag of ice on his right wrist, which he banged on a helmet late in the game. He said he doesn’t think the injury is serious.

Tackle Mike Otto (concussion) and wide receiver Damian Williams (ribs) didn’t finish the game.
