AP
We handle the biggest injury stories in the rumor mill Friday.
The rest goes right here, in the weekly injury report post designed to help you avoid the technology loop.
1. Here are the injuries we covered in the rumor mill throughout the day: James Starks, Josh Sitton, Jeremy Maclin, Andre Johnson, Billy Cundiff, Christian Ponder, and Adrian Peterson.
2. Mario Manningham (knee) is back for the Giants. He’s probable. Safety Kenny Phillips (knee) is doubtful, while defensive end Osi Umenyiora (ankle/knee), linebacker Mark Herzlich (ankle), and center David Baas (head/neck) have all been ruled out.
3. The Jaguars will be without defensive end Matt Roth (concussion). Their defensive line is very thin after recent injuries. Defensive ends John Chick and Aaron Kampman were placed on injured reserve.
4. Washington declared safety LaRon Landry (groin) out once again.
5. Panthers left tackle Jordan Gross (ankle) is questionable for Carolina’s home game against the Falcons. Gross didn’t practice all week.
6. It’s uncertain who the Falcons will play at left tackle. Will Svitek (groin) is questionable. Sam Baker could come off the bench. Protection has been a problem for Matt Ryan.
7. The Jets could be missing two key linemen. Defensive lineman Mike DeVito (knee) is doubtful. Guard Brandon Moore (hip) didn’t practice all week and is questionable. Reserve running back Joe McKnight (elbow) is also questionable and sounds unlikely to play.
8. The Saints will use running back Chris Ivory on Sunday because Mark Ingram (toe) is out. Also missing for New Orleans: linebacker Jonathan Casillas and defensive end Turk McBride.
9. The Bengals could be without a couple of key defensive players again. Defensive end Carlos Dunlap (hamstring) is doubtful; they really missed him last week. Cornerback Nate Clements (hamstring) is questionable. So is running back Brian Leonard (knee) and tackle Andre Smith, who has an ankle injury.
10. Von Miller is back for the Broncos. He’s probable. Running back Willis McGahee (knee) and wide receiver Eddie Royal (concussion) are both questionable. It sounds like McGahee will start; Royal is likely to sit.
11. Linebacker Joey Porter (knee) and safety Kerry Rhodes (foot) may be back for the Cardinals. (Yay?) They have both been out a while. Tight end Todd Heap (hamstring) is also questionable. Running back Beanie Wells is probable and ready to roll.
12. Ray Lewis (toe) is questionable once again. It appears he’ll miss his fourth straight game after not practicing all week. Cornerback Chris Carr (back) is out again as well.
13. Peter King’s favorite tight end Scott Chandler (ankle) is out for Buffalo.
14. Chargers linebackers Donald Butler (foot) and Shaun Phillips (foot) both returned for a full practice Friday. They are listed as questionable, but look likely to play.
15. Dallas Clark (fibula) should be back for the Colts. He practiced fully all week and is listed as questionable.
16. Poor Kyle Orton. That finger injury he suffered in his only play against the Bears will keep him out again. He’s doubtful.
17. The Lions are expected to be without two starters in the secondary again. Safety Louis Delmas (knee) and cornerback Chris Houston (knee) are both doubtful. Linebacker Justin Durant (hamstring), defensive tackle Nick Fairley (foot), and running back Kevin Smith (ankle) are all questionable.
Smith is the most likely player of the three to suit up because he practiced some Friday.
18. Patriots starting right tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back, foot) is out once again.
19. Titans starting wideout Nate Washington (ankle) is a gametime decision after not practicing all week. Starting cornerback Jason McCourty (concussion) is also looking unlikely to play. He’s questionable.
20. The 49ers will likely be without linebacker Patrick Willis. He’s questionable, but didn’t practice all week because of his hamstring injury. Braylon Edwards (hamstring) may return. Cornerback Carlos Rogers (knee) is also questionable.
21. The Bucs will be without cornerback Aqib Talib (hamstring). Josh Freeman (right shoulder) is officially questionable, but signs are pointing up after he practiced on a limited basis Thursday and Friday.
22. The Cowboys listed a lot of big names as questionable: Miles Austin (hamstring), Laurent Robinson (shoulder), and DeMarcus Ware (neck). All three players are expected to play, but Robinson seems to be the most up in the air.
