Public awareness of the importance of preventing – and correctly managing – sports concussion is rapidly growing. Thirty-six states have passed concussion laws. Guskiewicz and Gfeller were instrumental in establishing North Carolina’s Gfeller-Waller Concussion Law, which was signed into law June 16, 2011. They will address the personal and scientific significance of concussion prevention and management, and the next steps in this rapidly-evolving area.
