Gladewater ISD creates concussion oversight team
Gladewater ISD appointed a concussion oversight team to
establish return-to-play protocol for athletes believed to have
suffered a concussion, Superintendent J.P. Richardson said
Tuesday.
House Bill 2038, approved by the Texas Legislature this year,
requires all school districts to establish concussion oversight
teams, Richardson said.
Students must be removed from playing if it is believed they
have sustained a concussion, and parents must sign a consent form
before students can return to play.
Members of the Gladewater concussion oversight team are: Dr.
Cathy Fiesler, a Trinity Mother Frances physician; Gregg Jeffers, a
Gladewater ISD trainer; and Richardson.
