Jahvid Best misses another practice with concussion

Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best is out for his second straight practice after suffering a mild concussion in Friday’s 30-28 exhibition win over the Cleveland Browns.

Lions coach Jim Schwartz said Sunday the team will be cautious with Best’s latest head injury, considering his history of concussions at California.

“He’s doing well,” Schwartz said. “We’ll take a conservative approach, but I’d expect him out here pretty soon.”

Stefan Logan seemed to get more chances to run out of the backfield today.

Defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch and tight end Richard Dickson also are out today, with undisclosed injuries.

Rookie receiver Titus Young continued to work his way back into practice. He returned Sunday from a balky left hamstring that has lingered since he hurt it when camp opened July 29. He was taken out of practice after 34 reps today.

“We had a late practice yesterday,” Schwartz said after today’s practice. “I think he took about 24 reps, and I think we were at 34 today. We just said it was sort of enough time.

“And what happens is as soon as he’s done, we’re going to ice it. I think he’s OK. Again, it’s do a little bit more each day. Hopefully, we get past the point of counting his reps and pulling him and things like that. But right now, that’s the smartest way to do it.”
