BALTIMORE (AP)

Detroit Tigers pitcher Al Alburquerque has been released from the hospital with a concussion after being struck by a line drive during batting practice on Friday.

Alburquerque was to be driven home to Detroit on Sunday because he was told not to fly, manager Jim Leyland said Saturday.

The pitcher was struck in the head by a liner off the bat of Baltimore’s Robert Andino. He was taken off the field on a cart, transported to a hospital and remained under observation until Saturday afternoon.

He has been placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list. Leyland says the pitcher is on medication and will undergo further testing in Detroit.

Alburquerque was not at the ballpark on Saturday for Detroit’s game against the Orioles.
